Featuring unidentified photos in our collections
Photograph of Unknown Shivers Kin, Shivers Family Photos; privately held R. A. Cathcart, Highland Mills, New York, 2011. This 3×4 photograph has no writing on the reverse to identify the individuals or timeframe. This collection of photographs from the estate of Ella May (Shivers) Williams (1903-1999) was passed from B. J. (Williams) Crowley (1931- ) to B. A. (Jeager) Norleen (1954- ) from whom the current owner received them.
Her fingers are spread apart and it gives me the impression that she doesn’t want to be standing in there, eek look. Nice photo
Angie, I’m with you. She clearly is not happy. If the photographer is anything like my husband, “one more” does not mean what it’s supposed to 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
Very realistic photo! Also expressions have such clear resolution. Did you scan it in 600 dpi to get such clarity?
Both children look as though they have been ordered by adults to dress up and stand still for the camera. Very true to childhood.
Mariann,
My scanner default is 300dpi. Plus, the photo has been downsized for the web. You should see how good these photos looked when I did the original scanning project at 1200dpi 🙂 Sadly, I did the original project to .jpg instead of .tif. Need to go back and scan to a lossless format. Still I’m pretty happy with how they are showing online. Hope someone will eventually recognize them.
I was thinking the little girl is complaining about have to stand next to the boy. Maybe he is brother, maybe not. It’s so easy to spin stories in my head about what the situation could be.
